A veganised version of the traditional Turkish Lahmacun pizza using spiced vegan mince, topped with a smoked paprika yogurt, pomegranate seeds and chopped cherry tomatoes.
Turkish Lahmacun Pizza
A veganised version of the traditional Turkish Lahmacun pizza using spiced vegan mince, topped with a smoked paprika yogurt, pomegranate seeds and chopped cherry tomatoes.
Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 300 g Plain flour
- 7 g Dried yeast
- 1 tbsp Caster sugar
- 250 ml Luke-warm water
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tsp Salt
Filling
- ½ White onion
- 1 Red Pepper
- Handful of Parsley
- 3 Garlic cloves
- 200 g Vegan mince
- 1 tsp Smoked paprika
- ½ tsp Ground cumin
- ½ tsp Ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp Cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp Chilli flakes
- 4 tbsp Tomato puree
- 30 ml Olive oil
Toppings
- 1 tbsp Pistachio nuts
- Handful of Pomegrante seeds
- Handful of cherry tomato
- 50 ml Coconut yogurt
- 4-5 Mint leaves
- ½ tsp Smoked paprika
Instructions
- In a jug mix the luke warm water with the yeast and sugar. Allow to stand for 5 minutes before adding the olive oil.
- In a bowl, combine together the plain flour and salt. Then add in the yeast mixture and combine until it forms a ball. You may need to add slightly more flour if the mixture is too wet.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it forms a elastic smooth texture. Place the dough in a clean bowl in a warm place and prove for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C fan/200°C/gas mark 6.
- To make the filling, in a food processor blitz together the red pepper, white onion, parsley and garlic until it is roughly chopped.
- Add in the tomato puree, olive oil, chilli flakes and the vegan mince with all of the spices and blitz again until it forms a thick paste.
- Knock back the dough and split it in to 4 even balls. Roll out the balls with a rolling pin as thin as it goes without breaking the dough and spread the filling on top.
- Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the dough is crispy and golden. Meanwhile mix the coconut yogurt with the finely sliced mint leaves and smoked paprika.
- Once the pizza is cooked, sprinkle over pistachio nuts, halved cherry tomatoes, pomegranate seeds and drizzle over the coconut yogurt mix.
