Caramelised Apple & Mustard Sausage Rolls
A beautiful combination of caramelised apple, mixed herbs, dijon mustards all incased in a flaky puff pastry case. Topped with black sesame seed and cooked until golden.
Ingredients
- 320 g Ready made puff pastry
- 6 Good quality sausages
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp mixed herbs
- 3 Small Granny-Smith apples
- 15 g Salted butter
- 1 Egg
- 2 tsp Black sesame seeds
- Salt & Pepper to season
Instructions
- Peel and diced the apple in to small squares, place in a pan with the butter, mixed herbs and cook until they start to soften and caramlised.
- Take the skin off of the sausages and mix in a bowl with the caramlised apples and season with salt and pepper.
- Roll out the ready made puff pastry and down the long side, spread the dijon about 1 cm away from the edge. Then place the sausage meat on top of the dijon mustard. Roll up the pastry and seal with the beaten egg and trim of any extra pastry.
- Cut the sausage roll into 6 even pieces and place on a greaseproof paper lined baking tray. Egg wash the top and make two slit marks. Sprinkle over the black sesame seeds.
- Bake in a preheat oven at 200°C and cook for 25 minutes or until golden .
